Iran-Syria
Italferr has been assigned by its client, Tehran-based General Contractor Omran Razavi, to provide technical Assistance during production in the workshop, assembly and installation of the metal girders for the construction of the bridge over the Euphrates River, Syria, on the Tabeje-al Bookamal railway line.
The bridge’s metal structure consists of 5 reticular-type spans with closed overhead arches and underlying track way and a theoretic load-bearing capacity of 75.4 m, similar to those used for 2002 construction of the bridge over the River Po on the Padova - Bologna railway line.
The reticular girders are of the direct trackwork attachment type. The line is single-track but the entire river crossing has an abutment pier design to accommodate a double track in the future.
The services provided by Italferr regard:
• re-examination of the constructional drawings prepared by the company;
• evaluation and approval of construction methods and principal planned activities;
• quality control and technical acceptance of supplied materials according to international standards;
• periodic inspection in the production workshop located on the outskirts of Tehran of the various bridge elements under construction;
• evaluation of tests on materials, workshop activities and all main activities during manufacture of the iron components;
• check of contents and the condition of the pieces made in the workshop to be sent to the works site;
• on-site assistance during fundamental bridge assembly, opening and final testing operations.
Activities started in November 2008 and are due for completion in October 2010.
