Orte - Falconara
The Orte-Falconara Main line is one of the of the Italian railway network’s transversal lines, extending over the central quarter of the peninsula, which connects the Rome-Florence main line and the Adriatic main line, level with Orte and Falconara Marittima, respectively, via the Central Appennine mountain.
Work planned essentially consists in track-doubling, by phases, of the existing line (partly flanking and partly along a modified route) and in related technological upgrade of installations. The underlying aims of this work are to increase the infrastructural capacity, improve the performance of the main line and qualitatively and quantitatively increase traffic flows aimed at offering customers improved accessibility to railway travel and to obtain consistent savings in running costs.
The main projects are:
• Orte -Falconara infrastructural upgrade (includes Fabriano-PM228track doubling, Spoleto – Campello stretch, track doubling, as well as executive design for track doubling the Castelplanio-Montecarotto stretch and the preliminary design for track doubling on the PM228- Castelplanio stretch)
• Foligno-Fabriano infrastructural upgrade study (includes preliminary design for the entire stretch)
