Completion of Phase 1 of the track doubling project between Castelplanio and Montecarotto on the Orte-Falconara Line

The new track and refurbished station of Castelplanio-Cupramontana are now open

On 9 July, the new odd track between the stations of Castelplanio and Montecarotto, on the Orte-Falconara rail line, representing phase 1 of the doubling of the “Castelplanio-Montecarotto” section.

The new track, approx. 6,200 metres long, consists of a stretch running alongside the existing line, and a stretch following a different route with a double crossing of the river Esino.

Following the commissioning of the new track, a new – approx. 300 m long – platform has also been inaugurated, allowing easier boarding of trains and featuring tactile directions and maps for the visually impaired, which can be reached from the station forecourt via a pedestrian subway or a lift for disabled passengers.

On 15 July, the works for completing the track doubling will begin, including the trackbed for the new track using part of the trackbed of the decommissioned track (the so-called “even track”), the completion of the refurbishment of the station of Castelplanio, with the construction of new passenger platforms and the new layout of the tracks, the completion of the anti-noise barriers, the completion of the cycle/pedestrian path subway at Maiolati Spontini, the opening of the new local roads and new landscaping works.
