Italferr has provided technical assistance for all activities linked to the railway concession of the Colombian Atlantic Network that include the building of the new rail link between Colombia and Venezuela. 

Technical, operational and construction assistance has centred around the full rehabilitation and corresponding operation of freight transport from the railway route that links the port of Buenaventura, to La Felisa, passing through major towns such as Yumbo, Calì, Palmira, Buga and Cartago. The route, of an overall length of 500km, crosses a mountain region for 160km. 

The activity, carried out on behalf of the franchisee for the Pacific Rail Network (Tren de Occidente), was completed in 2004.
