Bologna-Verona-Brennero
The Bologna-Verona-Brennero route is part a component of the Berlin-Palermo Corridor and is part of European Union planning for Trans European corridors.
On this route, relevant infrastructure and technological investments are planned, aimed at giving the route itself the necessary performance features to grant it the capacity, in terms of supplying freight and passenger traffic, to fulfil the role of primary connecting axis between the Italian network and that of Central Europe.
The two main projects are:
1. technological upgrade of Bologna-Verona-Brennero consists, essentially, of:
• installing the Command and Control System (CCS) on the entire line, commanded from the Verona Central Control Point
• completing the train separation system using the Automatic Block System (ABS) along the line and in stations, installing the equipment remote-control functions
• adapting certain stations, bringing them in line with the Overall Railway Development Plan and installing new station equipment
• adjusting the electric traction equipment
• the automation/elimination of Level Crossings
2. Bologna-Verona track doubling, as part of completing the track doubling along the entire line for an overall 114 km.
