Pontremolese
The Pontremolese line, which connects La Spezia, through the Tuscan-Emilian Appenines, to the Bologna-Milan main line at the level of Parma, will be affected by various works to upgrade and improve efficiency, aimed at improving the quality standards of the service and the functional and performance features.
Completing this work depends on future traffic forecasts, so that, following activation of certain upgrading works, done on the Liguria stretch and having activated the track-doubling on the S.Stefano-Aulla-Chiesaccia stretch, track-doubling work is underway between Solignano and Osteriazza (Fornovo) as well as work to upgrade and improve efficiency on the line. Work towards completing the track doubling of the line is at the design stage, and will be carried out in the medium-term.
The following infrastructural upgrade and technological work has been planned in pursuit of the above aims:
- Infrastructural upgrade: completing Garfagnana link and Solignano-Fornovo track doubling
- Berceto-Chiesaccia and Parma-Fornovo track doubling (design)
- Pontremolese line: improving efficiency on current line (€52m)
