Our activities
Italferr operates across the entire national territory and overseas in the railway transport sector, whether traditional, high speed or metropolitan. Its activity also extends to other transport systems and all associated engineering sectors.
Designing and controlling the construction of the new HS/HC lines is among the most demanding activities entrusted to Italferr by the Italian State Railways Group. Part of the remit also involves strengthening and developing the main urban railway hubs.
To make a conscious and significant contribution to developing sustainable mobility, Italferr has defined an environmental policy based on specific responsibility criteria aimed at conserving and improving the territory, environmentally and socially.
Italferr, moreover, is the first subcontracting organization in Italy to have been accredited as an Inspection Body. Via a dedicated structure, it carries out verification (validation) for civil engineering projects and related process plant engineering, developed internally and for all the Group companies.
The company has developed a method (Value Engineering) for analysing different design solutions aimed at maximising the relationship between the works’ functional usability and the costs of the investment; this method is applied to railway line and node projects, both in the case of HS/HC and traditional lines.
Italferr prepares specialist studies (risk analysis, emergency procedures, safety reports, etc.) to guarantee safety levels for infrastructures (e.g.: tunnels) at the design or construction stage.
Italferr constitutes a reference point for the supervisory authorities, in terms of safeguarding all aspects of design and construction within the scope of worksite safety.
The firm designs and coordinates all engineering activities associated with technological systems (electricity generation and electrified railway lines, safety facilities, standard and innovative control and monitoring systems for rail traffic, standard and innovative telecommunications) to ensure functionality, start ups and commissioning of facilities, for high speed tracks, interoperability features at a European level.
