In producing infrastructures, as part of the design flow, design activities for the infrastructures themselves take on a particular relevance.
An accurate study of the Contractor’s functional, technical and financial requirements makes it possible to face the long road ahead (from the emergence of the infrastructure need to the building of the work) with the reasonable confidence of being able to stay within the requested times and costs.
Italferr has outstanding expertise in:
transport development plans
preliminary and technical/financial feasibility studies concept development and system engineering
Functional-design supports research into the optimal characterisation of the infrastructure.
This activity brings together the above-mentioned requirements with the actual situation on site, the choice of appropriate geometry, with traffic operation models, integration with technological facilities, with environmental and town planning requirements.
Construction of a work culminates in the work entering active operation.
This phase goes through a complex development process. Beyond what is necessary to start up the civil works, railway construction and technological facilities, activities connected to the following are part of System design:
specifying databases with the necessary elements for normal and extraordinary maintenance operations for the various components of the infrastructure
drawing up maintenance manuals to deliver to the services responsible for efficiency maintenance certifying the systems and subsystems that make up the infrastructure, following national and EU standards verifying compliance with interoperability standards
Principal activities subject to the activities above:
• Corridor V: Feasibility Project for the new Trieste Divača line; functional operational and economical and financial analysis (client: RFI on behalf of the Friuli Region)
• Corridor V: operational study to define and dimension a Large-Gauge Lorry-Rail service between Turin and Lyon (client: LTF)
• Corridor V. Functional, operational and maintenance studies concerning the new Turin– Lyon line (client: LTF)
• TEN network: Functional analysis and operational studies for upgrading the Gallarate – Bellinzona line (Gronda Ovest): track doubling on the Laveno – Luino line (client: RFI)
• TEN network: determining basic data to bring the Novara Hub in line with Overall Development Programme and associated intermodal freight terminals and Rolling roads and continuing the new Rotterdam – Genoa links and building the new Novara HS/HC (client: RFI/TAV)
• Feasibility and functional analysis projects and transport related to the upgrade of the Naples – Bari main line (client: RFI)
• Operational and functional analysis for the upgrade of the metropolitan service on the Valsugana line (client: Trento Autonomous Province)
