Technical assistance for the modernisation of 430 km of railway network 

Italferr is active in Romania, in its capacity as leader of the international joint venture which is providing technical assistance to the Romanian Railways, to bring the following stretches of track in Corridor IV up to European standards: Brasov-Sighisoara (130km), Sighisoara-Coslariu (98km), Coslariu-Simeria (68km), Predeal-Brasov (26km) and Craiova-Calafat (107km).

This assignment was obtained via international bidding called by the Romanian Railways themselves, in March 2006. The contract, priced at 22 milion Euros, is 85% co-financed by the European Commission with the ISPA fund (structural support programme for Countries entering the European Union) and 15% by Romanian Railways. 
Work started in July 2007 and will end in the secon quarter of 2010. 


Supervision of road and railway infrastructure works to provide access to the Calafat - Vidin bridge on the Danube

Italferr, on behalf of the Romanian Ministry of Transport and as the leader of an international joint venture, is providing Technical Assistance for the supervision of new road and railway infrastructure works to provide access (on the Romanian side) to the bridge that connects Calafat and Vidin across the Danube.

Italferr is responsible for coordination of the entire project and the railway sector in particular.

Work started in May 2009 and will end in June 2013.
