map of romania Technical Assistance for the development of a Quality and Environment Integrated Management System

Italferr was engaged in the assistance of the Romanian Railways (see: Compania Nationala de Cai Ferate) for the development and implementation of the Quality and Environment Integrated Management System.
This important assignment was obtained thanks to the high-level of know-how matured by Italferr through the application of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards to large national and international railway infrastructure projects.

The project required that the Integrated Management System were applied to the following activities:
• maintenance of the Romanian railway lines and systems;
• modernisation and development of the existing lines;
• assignment of train paths;
• railway company property assets management.

Moreover, a training activity, directed to the executive and intermediate level personnel of the contractor’s managing structures, has been arranged in Romania.

The agreement has been financed by the World Bank. 
  
Activities were completed in 2009.
 
Technical assistance for the preparation of project documentation in the CEI (Central European Initiative) funding programme
Italferr has provided the various Romanian Railway operating companies (CFR S.A., CFR Calatori, CFR Marfa), with assistance in preparing project documentation and to indicate an appropriate course of implementation for projects included in the CEI funding programme, regarding restructuring of six railway stations, rehabilitation of approximately five hundred railway carriages and reconversion of approximately fifty locomotives for passenger transport. 

This activity was completed in 2001. 

Review of the feasibility study for the railway line of the town of Simeria on the Hungarian border
Technical assistance was provided for the review of the feasibility study of the link for railway development and combined transport on a portion of the Pan-European Corridor IV going from the city of Simeria on the border with Hungary (185km), with the aim of promoting sustainable mobility along Corridor IV (Dresden/Nuremberg-Prague-Vienna-Budapest/Bucharest-Costance/Sofia-Istambul). 

Italferr has also provided a communications consultancy for the organisation of the Public Consultations contemplated by the European Union for this type of project. 

This activity, undertaken on behalf of Romanian Railways (CFR-SA), was completed in 2004.
