Construction site safety

Worksite Safety, in its modern conception, derives from the European directive 92/57/EEC of 24 June 1992 (minimum prescriptions of safety to be actuated in temporary and mobile building sites) – Building Site Directive – transposed by Legislative Decree 494/96.

Currently Building Site Safety is governed by Title IV of Legislative Decree 81/08 (so-called “Consolidated Safety Law”) which repealed Legislative Decree 494/96.

Title IV of Legislative Decree 81/08 applies to all temporary or mobile building sites, that is, at any site in which construction works or civil engineering are carried out, better specified in attachment X in the same Legislative Decree.

The figures involved in Building Site Safety by the European Directive as transposed by the national norm are:

Clients
Works managers
Co-ordinator during the design phase
Co-ordinator during the execution phase
Employers
Directors
Supervisors
Employees
Independent employees
Developers for locations and/or workplaces and plant, machine and apparatus
Builders, traders, brokers, plant installers, machinery and apparatus

In Italferr, Building Site Safety constitutes one of the unrenounceable bases for the design and realisation of the works, directly involving some hundreds of internal resources in legal roles.

Italferr Building Site Safety has 2 different approaches for:

High Speed Routes
Italferr carries out the role of Overall Supervision and, on behalf of the Client, also supervises the Building Site Safety aspect with its dedicated personnel regarding both design and safe realisation (supervision of CpP, CEL, RdL)

Building sites managed by Italferr
In directly managed building sites, Italferr takes on the legal roles:
Works manager (RdL)
Design co-ordinator (CpP)
