Supervision works
During the construction phases, Italferr activities focus on controlling times, costs and the quality of the works themselves, in compliance with the project and the contract, and existing law and trade standards. These subdivide, depending on the nature of the hirer/executor, into: Works Management and Construction Supervision.
WORKS MANAGEMENT
“To coordinate, direct and control technical accounting for the execution of every single piece of work, the contracting stations, before the tender, shall establish a works management role…” (Presidential Decree 554/1999 - article 123).
Works Management operates in the interests of the contractor in a strictly technical capacity and shall only formally intervene as a result of instructions from the Executor.
Works Management is responsible for the proper and timely execution of the work, verifying materials used, checks during the course of the work, measuring and accounting for completed sections of the work.
Furthermore it imparts all the instructions considered necessary for the good progress of the work during the timetables agreed and with any requirements, be they derived from train traffic flows or from other works contracts with which the works underway might clash.
For the works, which fall under Legislative Decree 81/08 (the so-called “Consolidated Safety law”), repealed by Legislative Decree 494/96, the Works Management as a rule also takes on the role of Work execution coordinator.

CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION
Construction Supervision consists in activities aimed at overall supervision of the designs and construction carried out by the General Contractor (GC) or General Contractors.
Construction Supervision is responsible for controlling the Executive design drawn up by the GC, for the proper and timely execution of the work, for verifying that the materials used have received prior approval from the GC, controlling times and progress of the work on site, for verifying the Progress of Works. Furthermore, it verifies that what has been formally agreed, and/or declared by the GC in the approved Quality Plan is adhered-to in the construction of the works.
Monitoring the designs is done via dedicated figures within the Project Team as well as with the support of local Specialist Units.
Construction Supervision further manages environmental issues in compliance with relevant rules and contractual agreements.
