Milan, October 23, 2019 FS Italiane Group awarded at the Smau Milano 2019 event for its innovative mobility projects developed with startups and companies.

During the 3-day event (October 22 – 24), the parent company FS Italiane was acknowledged as a success case thanks to the prototype developed with the Italy-based startup Guardian.

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and Italferr received awards for their Proof of Concept, co-innovation projects developed within the framework of the OPEN ITALY programme by ELIS. In particular, FS Italiane showcased its innovative technology for high speed trains, to provide increasingly customised quality services. The prototype was developed with the Italy-based startup Guardian, which won the challenge launched through the open innovation programme of the Region of Lazio.

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana is testing, with the startup SyEnMaint, the SyEnMaint Platform for predictive maintenance purposes. Italferr has conceived and co-designed the DeoS: Digital eyes on Site system for automating the construction site progress monitoring process, jointly with Sirti as system integrator and the startups Difly, Studiomapp and Tolemaica.

At the Smau Milano 2019 event, nugo, a startup of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group, showcased its mobility and travel app. The nugo app is an effective travel information and assistance tool, which aims to become a driver for the general and business development of Italian regions, assisting travellers in planning their journeys.

The nugo Journey Planner offers travel solutions based on mass transit, collective and shared systems. Solutions may be customised and then purchased with just one click, in a single transaction. FS Italiane is constantly committed to transforming shared and collective mobility in Italy, to increasingly enhance integration and sustainability. A commitment that is reflected in the 58 billion euro investment plan set out in the 2019-2023 Business Plan, for improving service quality and customisation. FS Italiane intends to achieve this by focusing on an open innovation approach, which means increasingly opening up to the outside world to intercept innovative ideas and solutions concerning integrated mobility.
