Cooperation agreement with the Argentine Transport Ministry

The signing also attended by the CEO and the General Manager, as well as the Group’s International Markets Officer Carlo Carganico

Friday, 7 April. Today, in Rome, the CEO and General Manager of FS Italiane Group, Renato Mazzonicini, and the Argentine Transport Minister Guillermo Dietrich signed an agreement for rail engineering consultancy services in connection with the launching of the RER – Redes Expresos Regionales – rail development programme for the city of Buenos Aires. The agreement provides, in particular, for specialist support in the drafting of the technical and functional specifications for the calls for tender.

The signing was also attended by the CEO and General Manager and also the Group’s International Markets Officer Carlo Carganico.

The RER Programme, besides creating new rail links, also features the integration, within the metropolitan area, of all the rail lines converging into the Argentine capital from the North, South and West of the country. The plans also include the construction of a central interchange with the underground lines and the construction of new stations and nodes.

FS Italiane Group established a foothold in Argentina in 2016, thanks to our Company and the design activities for the New Sarmiento Consortium, also developing fruitful relations with the local Transport Ministry.

The partnership between Italferr/FS and the Argentine Transport Ministry has led to the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and the Argentine railways operator FASE, last September, with the aim of finalising direct negotiations with Italferr or other FS Group companies.

Today’s agreement strengthens the rail engineering partnership between the two Countries and should be interpreted as the first step in the development of joint projects in the years to come.
