In Italferr the conference “La Torre di Pisa, interventi e studi per la sua Salvaguardia” by Michele Jamiolkowski

The Professor Emeritus of the Polytechnic of Turin on visit at the headquarters of the engineering company of Ferrovie dello Stato Group.


On 19 June, in the offices of the headquarters of Italferr, the engineering company belonging to the Italian FS Group, Michele Jamiolkowski, Professor Emeritus of the Polytechnic of Turin, held a conference on “La Torre di Pisa, interventi e studi per la sua Salvaguardia” (The Tower of Pisa, actions and studies to protect it).

The paper is dedicated to the memory of Giuseppe Traini, formerly Technical Manager of Italferr.

Having as guest in Italferr Prof. Jamiolkowski, the top expert in this field”, – the CEO Carlo Carganico declared – “is a truly useful and extraordinarily fascinating occasion for allowing us to explore topics of great cultural and scientific interest while enhancing further our skills and know-how in protecting and safeguarding architectural and environmental works, that are the assets of the Group and of Italy as a system across the world”.

Professor Jamiolkowski illustrated and told the events and the various building phases that the Tower of Pisa has undergone through the centuries. The experts say that this important monument, a global symbol of Italy, will not move again for the next 3 centuries.
