Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Graziano Delrio inaugurates Campofelice of Roccella-Ogliastrillo section.
Designed by Italferr and realized by RFI, it is part of the planned measures for doubling the Fiumetorto-Castelbuono rail line.

On 16 October 2017, in the morning, the CEO of Italferr, Mr. Carlo Carganico attended with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Graziano Delrio, the CEO of RFI Maurizio Gentile and the local authorities, the inauguration of the new Campofelice di Roccella-Ogliastrillo rail section, which will improve the efficiency, safety and speed of rail services in the island.
Here the CEO Carganico underlined how Italferr, which was responsible for the works surveillance and supervision, coordination and oversight of the on-site work processes for the project, actively contributes to the development of infrastructure in Sicily, by drawing on the professional skills and high specialisation of its human resources.

In the afternoon of that same day, there was a visit to the base camp in Termini Imerese. Here Italferr experts illustrated the activities for examining and cataloguing the archaeological finds unearthed in the area of Hymera, at the start of the works. The programme also included whistle-stops in the sites of the Fiumetorto-Oglistarillo and Ogliastrillo-Castelbuono sections.

The following day, tuesday 17 October, there was a very interesting visit to the TBM excavation of the tunnel in section B of the underground through line in Palermo (Passante).

On the same day, in the Palermo office of Italferr, there was a meeting with the company’s resources engaged in Sicily. Here, Mr. Carganico expressed great appreciation and satisfaction for the high level of competence, expertise and specialisation, as well as the great enthusiasm and, above all, the strong sense of belonging, “elements that have always characterised our Company”.

The programme of this journey to Sicily ended with a trip on board a bogie from the station of Notarbartolo to Isola Delle Femmine (about 10 Km), to show the completed works on sections B and C of the Palermo through-line, which will enable the reactivation of rail services to Punta Raisi Airport (18 km double-track and 4 single-track).
