The Guadagna and Lolli stops of the Palermo Railway Link have been inaugurated

On 16 February 2016 Italferr made significant headway when it opened the stops of Guadagna and Lolli in Palermo. The official inauguration was led by Graziano Delrio, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Italferr's Managing Director, Matteo Triglia and RFI's Managing Director, Maurizio Gentile. Rosario Crocetta, President of the Region of Sicily, Manlio Munafò, Extraordinary Commissioner for the Province of Palermo and Leoluca Orlando, Mayor of Palermo were all also present for the occasion.
The infrastructural work on the city of Palermo is forging ahead with the works on the Railway Link which will bring the "Falcone-Borsellino" airport of Punta Raisi into the centre with a suburban metropolitan service. It will be entirely a double-track electrified line.
The two new Guadagna and Lolli stops will be joining the Roccella stop which was commissioned in 2014 and the Maredolce stop which was completed in December 2015. They go to make up some of the 10 new scheduled stops (in addition to the ones already existing on the section) which will bring a metropolitan service into the heavily built-up areas of Palermo.
The Lolli stop is is particularly important for two reasons: firstly, it has been constructed in the heart of the city in a renowned district near the old station bearing the same name (but now in disuse), lying just a few hundred metres from the historical Piazza Politeama; secondly, the technological methods used to position the stop in the Vespri Notarbartolo tunnel section (about 3.5 Km) were noteworthy.

The stop has been built over four levels (three of which underground) and is equipped with:
water srpinkling and fire-fighting facilities, water curtains and deluge system
