California High Speed "CP4" project, tender phase
In its capacity as subcontractor in the Louis Berger Group, Italferr took part in the design team supporting the Joint Venture set up by Salini Impregilo & Security Pavings for the Design & Build tender project of Contract Package 4 relating to the California High Speed Rail. Professional services began with the launching of the tender on 27 May 2015 and it ended when the bid submitted in mid-October 2015.
The project is related to the completion of the initial central section of the future California High Speed Rail line, in the Central Valley, between Fresno and Bakersfield. The, more demanding connections with the cities of San Francisco to the north and Los Angeles to the south have currently been postponed to a later stage. With a design speed of 350 km/h, this section features viaducts and embankments designed to minimize the impact on local populations and to allow the new line to overpass the conventional BNSF railway.
Activities were completed in December 2015.
