Italferr, partners DB Engineering & Consulting (Germany) and IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture, S.A.U. (Spain), signed a contract to provide Engineering, Consulting and FIDIC Engineer Services for the overall management and execution of the ENE Deployment process across the Baltic States, lasting in total approx. 10 years.
The Rail Baltica Global Project is a railway transport project aimed at integrating the Baltic States into the European rail network and covering Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, indirectly – also Finland. The project will be a powerful catalyst for sustainable economic growth in the Baltic States, defining a new standard of passenger and freight mobility.
The main objective of the general ENE Deployment Project is the successful introduction and implementation of the energy subsystem to the whole Rail Baltica network, which covers approx. 870km with double passenger and freight tracks and the top design speed is 249 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains, passing through 3 Baltic Countries, with 7 passenger stations and 3 new multi-modal freight terminals, and further connections to airports and ports.
Thanks to this important contract, Italferr strengthens its presence in Northern Europe, and increases the overall portfolio in Europe. Furthermore, the assignment is the largest single contract for an electrification project in the world, connecting three different countries with a single infrastructure: the first therefore of this size and type that Italferr wins on the foreign market, consolidating itself as a leader in the panorama. International High Speed and strengthening its pre-eminence in the Systems, Technologies and System Engineering sectors.
