ANJI KHAD BRIDGE

The Anji Khad bridge is located on the Katra-Banihal section of the Udhampur Srinagar-Baramulla railway line in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The structure, designed by Italferr and currently under construction, is a cable-stayed bridge with an asymmetrical layout and a single tower placed on the more accessible side, considered the characteristic of the Anji river which flows in a deep gorge with sub-vertical walls. The total span of the cable-stayed part is 473.25 metres, with a length of the main span of 290 m and a height above bed level of 196 m.

The new bridge is among the most significant of the entire railway line that will cross the Northwest region of India, along the slopes of Kashmir, to the border with Pakistan.

The works began in January 2016 and should be completed at the end of 2023.
