Rail infrastructure projects play a key role in driving the sustainable development of the Country, as strategic components in the development of more accessible and resilient cities and communities. At the same time, they can and must enhance landscape identity and improve regional cohesion and the quality of life of local communities.
Against this backdrop, our commitment towards Sustainability aims to steer the design process, and the company as a whole, towards embracing sustainable development objectives, nationally and internationally, by harmonising relations between projects, infrastructure and communities and reconciling Italferr’s engineering know how with a greater focus on design and social and economic factors.
At Italferr, we address Sustainability in both the design process and as an overarching ESG strategy, by rolling out ad hoc standards and gradually innovating our sustainability assessment methods. Furthermore, both Italferr and the FS Group, are engaged in an intense R&D partnership, between themselves and with the broader scientific community, to support our experimental efforts in this field. We promote and disseminate the culture of sustainability through the production of scientific guidelines and publications, training programmes and participation in conferences and seminars.
SUSTAINABILITY ACTIVITIES
THE KEY PILLARS OF SUSTAINABILITY
In a global context of increasing attention to decarbonization, the electrification of railway lines represents one of the most effective methods for reducing transport sector emissions, for encouraging the use of renewable energy, and for contributing to energy transition and sustainable development goals (SDGs). Italferr is a key player in numerous infrastructure interventions that aim to make ...
A constant commitment to guaranteeing greater safety and smoother traffic flows for future infrastructures Gruppo FS and Italferr are actively engaged in increasing the safety of railway infrastructures, with a view to improving the efficiency of traffic flows, providing a railway network that is safer and more sustainable, in the form of tangible actions.
On the occasion of the Biennale of European towns and town planners 'Inclusive cities and regions' held in Naples at the ‘Federico II’ University and organised by the Italian Institute of Town Planning (INU) and the European Council of Spatial Planners (ECTP), Italferr - an engineering company of the FS Group's Infrastructure Hub - participated with an important scientific presentation. In partic...
These operations allow for a rapid chemical reaction between lime and soil, with short- and long-term benefits, including: Improved workability: reduction of soil plasticity and water sensitivity. Increased durability: greater resistance to weathering, erosion, and frost. Optimization of mechanical strength: the treated soil acquires properties comparable to the best natural mixtures, making it s...
