ACHIEVING BETTER NOISE AND VIBRATION CONTOL
Noise pollution from railways is increasingly perceived as a significant nuisance, so Noise and Vibration Studies have become an indispensable tool, in the design phase, to assess and mitigate the environmental impact produced by railway lines and nodes in terms of noise and vibration.
Italferr carries out field surveys on noise emissions by trains, compared to the prior noise climate, and noise tests on the mitigation works, also performing detailed simulations in the various scenarios following the completion of the railway infrastructure (before and after mitigation), based on the most accurate basic data available, and designs the mitigation works in all phases of the project.
Furthermore, with regard to train vibrations, Italferr adopts methods for effectively assessing the levels of disturbance and forecasting any potential structural damage to buildings.
Noise and vibration monitoring extends to the rail, road and industrial sectors, including impact assessments in both outdoor and indoor environments; with regard to building acoustics, the company carries out noise monitoring and testing and on-site inspections of passive acoustic requirements and of vibrations.
Thanks to the high-level expertise built up over many years of experience in the field of noise pollution, our Environmental Department is often called to take part in working groups set up by the Ministry of the Environment and ISPRA to provide best-practice interpretations of the relevant regulations.
Italferr is particularly focused on advancing technological development in the field of noise source experiments and acoustics material analysis, and on developing proposals for updating regulations to ensure more effective infrastructure design processes and environmental integration.
