EFFECTIVELY INTEGRATING INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS INTO THE ENVIRONMENT
Italferr provides support in making the best design decisions for proactively safeguarding the environment, according to EU regulations and sustainable development strategies.
Environmental design and research are the backbone of our infrastructure projects, from the beginning and throughout the design process, to support design decision-making and achieve the best integration of each project into the landscape and the environment.
Italferr carries out research work to assess the direct and indirect impact of its projects on the environment and the landscape, and plans adequate mitigation measures. In particular, with regard to integrating infrastructure into the landscape, the company draws on its significant experience in fields such as territorial analysis, also by employing 3D modelling software.
Italferr plays a key role in the infrastructure governance framework by preparing the Environmental Impact Assessment report, which contains information sourced from the Ministry of Ecological Transition, providing all-round support in the participatory processes and in handling the technical and administrative procedures with the competent authorities, and, finally, also providing support in the public discussion phase, to engage with and inform the local communities about the project and address the environmental issues raised by the stakeholders.
