Italferr played a leading role in the third edition of the OICE 2025 Awards, with the Jury picking them as the winner in the “A2” ESG/Sustainability” category.
This award was received by Attorney Irene Gionfriddo, Foreign Commercial Development, Business Affairs and Sustainability Director and Eng. Serena Martini, Sustainability Manager.
This recognition confirms the importance of the path Italferr has undertaken of integrating sustainability in its large infrastructural projects - harmonising the design, infrastructure, and territory - balancing its engineering know-how with an approach that is sensitive to environmental, social, and economic aspects.
This candidacy sought to illustrate Italferr’s actions, as a pioneer in Sustainability matters in relation to both design and Company ESG, in the form of Sustainable Design, R&D&I, and Corporate Sustainability.
In terms of the challenges posed by worldwide agendas, Italferr is involved in a process of integrating Sustainability by producing specific documents and gradually innovating the methods it uses to evaluate its own infrastructural design business and management of company processes, in line with Gruppo FS strategies, as well as in research and development programmes run with prestigious Italian and international partners.
Sustainability is the criterion for harmonising how the design, infrastructure and territory relate to one another, thereby applying Italferr’s engineering know-how with an approach that is sensitive to environmental, social and economic aspects.
In this regard, the Company is also supported by a sound, tested Integrated Management System that is ISO 14001 certified.
Experimentation is also fed by extensive research and collaboration within Italferr and the Group, as well as with the scientific community involving engineers, architects, economists, ecologists, and sociologists.
Communicating and disseminating a sustainability culture is promoted by distributing codes, guidelines and protocols, policies and procedures, training sessions, conferences, publications and communication via the intranet and social media.
