ADDIS ABABA-DJIBOUTI RAILWAY LINE

Italferr signed at the headquarters of the Ethiopian Railways in Addis Ababa the contract for "Operation & Maintenance" consultancy services for the new railway line (752.7 km long) connecting Addis Ababa to the Port of Djibouti and for the new light rail transit (LRT - Light Rail Transit) of the Ethiopian city (17.41 km long).

The assignment, awarded by the ERC - Ethiopian Railway Organisation with the objective of developing an integrated and efficient Rail Transport System to ensure competitiveness, safety and reliability for the movement of goods and passengers in Ethiopia, was completed in 2016.

Italferr developed the Master Plan and the guidelines for Railway Operation and Maintenance, and designed an organisational system adapted to the client's needs, with coordination of training programs.

With the awarding of the contract, Italferr laid the foundation for a policy of expansion in the African continent, where local governments, international financing institutions and private companies planned to invest significant capital for the development of transport infrastructure.
