Rome-Sulmona line, a first step towards the Lunghezza-Guidonia line doubling project

New Guidonia Collefiorito station

On 17 September, the provisional track variant of the Rome-Sulmona railway line, in proximity of the new Guidonia Collefiorito station, was put into operation.

The works, which fall within the scope of two separate contracts, one for Civil Engineering Works and the other for Superstructure, Electric Traction, Signalling and Telecommunications, were conducted under the Works Supervision of Italferr, the engineering company of the Infrastructure Hub, with the full cooperation of the entire Project Group as well as of the client RFI, of the Infrastructure Manager and of the Contractors.

The project is a first step towards the ambitious goal of doubling the railway line between Lunghezza and Guidonia, Rome's second largest municipality.
