After the awards of the Turin metro, the Genoa metro, the Brescia tram, two Tashkent-Uzbekistan metro lines and the successful conclusion of the Doha-Qatar Metro project, Italferr was also entrusted with the project for the new Padua tram line.
The engineering company of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group leads the pool of designers, made up of Erregi, SDA Progetti and Pini Swiss, during the final design and safety coordination phase of the new urban system "SIR 3" in Padua. This will be a second tram line for the Venetian city, approximately 5.4 km long with 13 stops, with terminus at the Padua Central railway station from which it continues towards the South/East until it connects with the South Ring Road at Voltabarozzo and will be adopted Translohr technology already used for the SIR 1 line in operation since 2007.
