First section of the Delhi - Ghaziabad - Meerut Regional Rapid Transit (RRTS) corridor opens for passenger service

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the section between Sahibabad and Duhai

The first 17 km section between the Sahibabad and Duhai stations of the Delhi - Ghaziabad - Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor has been inaugurated for passenger service.

This is a great opportunity of modernisation for the Indian transport system, which sees Italferr, the Engineering Company of the FS Group's Infrastructure Hub, involved in General Consultancy activities in an international joint venture with the Spanish company AYESA.

The project, worth 13 million Euros, was launched in 2019 and involves 120 international and national professionals over a 6-year time contract period.

Part of the 2032 New Integrated Transport Development Plan, the activities are aimed at building an 82 km railway corridor that will be India's first regional rapid transport system and, with a maximum speed of 180 km/h, will connect the capital Delhi with the cities of Meerut and Ghaziabad.

An important milestone which sees Italferr at the forefront of the Indian government's ambitious development plan for an integrated infrastructure system and for modern and efficient transport services.
