The Italian know-how for infrastructure development and energy transition in India.
This was the theme of a roundtable discussion organised by IICCI (The Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) held at the Gianni & Origoni law firm with the aim of providing an overview of the opportunities offered by the Indian market in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
Also present to share experiences and success stories was the FS Group, which with Italferr exports its engineering know-how around the world.
Alessandro Gnani, Area Manager Asia Pacific of Italferr, outlined the key role the company plays within the FS Group's Infrastructure Hub, with know-how consolidated by long-standing experience in more than 60 countries around the world.
Among the major projects we are currently working on in India, Mr. Gnani mentioned:
- The design and works supervision of the Anji Khad cable-stayed bridge, as part of the railway line that will cross India's northwestern region along the slopes of Kashmir to the border with Pakistan, scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.
- Design and Project Management Consulting services within the framework of the new Rishikesh-Karanprayang railway line in Uttarakhand, northern Uttarakhand, with the construction of a total of 125 km of new railway link, predominantly underground (105 km of tracks running in 17 tunnels), parallel to the riverbed of the Ganges River, at the foot of the Himalayan mountain range.
- The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System in which, as part of the New Integrated Transportation Development Plan 2032, a newly constructed section will run for more than 500 km within the National Capital Region.
- Consulting services for the Mumbai Metro, for the construction of two corridors within Line 2 (Yellow Line) and Line 7 (Red Line).
- Consultancy services for the Kanpur and Agra Metros, the construction of 4 corridors for a total length of 62.6 km divided between the Kanpur Metro and Agra Metro systems, including 57 stations and 4 depots. The construction activities, expected to last 60 months, are scheduled to be completed in 2025.
