CIFI awards the article “Analysis of the conditioned materials coming from the TBM-EPB excavation in the Serravalle Tunnel of the Terzo Valico dei Giovi”

On June 23rd, the awarding of the prizes was held at the National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa by CIFI for the best technical articles published in 2021 in the historic magazine La Tecnica Ferroviaria.

The event featured Italferr, the engineering company of the FS Group's Infrastructure Hub, where the specialists of the HSQE, Field & Safety Operations Department, operating within the Environmental Control of Construction Sites structure, were awarded for the article "Analisi dei materiali condizionati provenienti dallo scavo mediante TBM-EPB nella Galleria Serravalle - Terzo Valico dei Giovi" (Analysis of conditioned materials coming from the TBM-EPB excavation in the Serravalle Tunnel of the Terzo Valico dei Giovi), published in the July-August 2021 two-month issue.

The article illustrates the main environmental aspects related to the mechanized excavation of the Serravalle Tunnel, as well as the regulatory, logistical and operational implications related to the conditioning of the earth coming from the excavation, also in terms of assessment of its environmental compatibility.

The authors Mario Foresta, Antonio Zannini, Elena Consonni, Walter Catalani, Gennaro Petito and Stefano Manai expressed their great satisfaction and elation for this award, ideally addressed to Italferr and shared with the whole team involved in the design and construction of the infrastructure.

Italferr confirms its leading role in the Infrastructure Hub regarding such a strategic and major issue as environmental protection.
