Once again, the names Italferr and Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane have resonated strongly at the “Year in Infrastructure – Going Digital Awards” organised by Bentley Systems, marking yet another international success for FS. With 12 categories, and a total of around 300 entries, Italferr was the only international company to reach the final with three projects, once again showcasing the excellence of Italian engineering.
After Singapore and London, this time the event was held in Amsterdam, where the international leaders in digital innovation applied to the world of infrastructure and public works gathered on 15 and 16 October 2025.
The award was collected, on behalf of Italferr, by Irene Gionfriddo, Director of Foreign Business Development, Business Affairs and Sustainability, Daniela Aprea, Director of Infrastructure BIM Management & Project Control, together with their colleagues from the Management team Lorenzo Cambi, Letizia Attili and Sara Fracassi.
The event, one of the most eagerly awaited moments in the global engineering scene, featured 300 entries from 47 countries, judged by an independent jury, which selected only 36 finalist projects, including 3 from Italferr, in the different categories.
The three finalist projects for FS were:
| Category | Project | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Bridges and Tunnels | Leveraging digital technologies for better infrastructure management | WINNER |
| Construction | Digital Construction Site 4.0: innovation and monitoring of work progress | FINALIST |
| Project Delivery | New Palermo–Catania–Messina railway link | FINALIST |
Three projects, three regions, three different approaches to digital innovation: a single shared vision for the hi-tech engineering of the future, with FS confirming its role as a driver of innovation culture with Italferr.
The 2-day event in Amsterdam was also packed with meetings, interviews and discussions with representatives of the world's leading engineering companies.
At the many conferences, workshops and live presentations, the Italferr team had the opportunity to talk with other global experts, exchange experiences and consolidate new professional relationships, in a high-level international setting, including in the field of research and new technologies for construction site management.
On the stage of the Going Digital Awards, Italferr represented Italian manufacturing as synonymous with quality, innovation science and the inherent security of sustainable mobility networks and construction site safety.
This is yet another milestone in Italferr’s ongoing pursuit of excellence throughout our 40-plus years of history.
An award achieved thanks to the hard work of all our colleagues at Italferr and FS Group, who design, coordinate, experiment and believe in the value of digital transformation as a lever for more resilient, greener, safer and “smarter” infrastructure.
