CEO and General Director of Italferr Dario Lo Bosco took part in the Italian Forum on Innovation and Sustainability organized by Remind in the panel titled “Innovation and Sustainability: New Routes for Italy”, sharing with institutions, enterprises, and industry experts the sustainable innovation models that Italferr is carrying on as a driver of innovative and hi-tech digital engineering in Italy and worldwide, in collaboration with the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group.
“Scientific research, technology, and innovation must contribute concretely to the sustainable growth of the country and the development of advanced systems at both European and international levels,” said Lo Bosco.
With a presence on five continents and 15 international offices in addition to those in Italy, Italferr is proud to apply unique digital systems in Europe. Through the adoption of 4D and 5D BIM, the company integrates technology, safety, and know-how to prevent delays and design changes during execution, avoid inefficiencies affecting public finances, and pursue the goal of “zero fatalities” in the workplace.
The focus was also on digital platforms and technologies made available to Public Administration to avoid underground interference that causes preventable “impacts.” This is achieved through geothermal and satellite surveys and preliminary checks for potential archaeological remains, thereby improving infrastructure development efficiency while also enhancing cultural heritage and artifacts.
Among the topics discussed was the Strait of Messina Bridge, which will symbolize social and technological unity. It will serve as a strategic link in the Palermo-Berlin-Helsinki-Valletta corridor, bringing regions and people closer together and projecting us toward 2030 in line with ecosystem goals. These include a 30% reduction in freight traffic by road in favor of rail and sea transport, contributing to improved air quality and climate change mitigation.
Italferr’s model of excellence was recognized with the prestigious OICE 2025 award, placing the company at the top of the sustainability podium.
Italferr is also at the forefront of site monitoring, thanks to collaboration with law enforcement, prefectures, companies, and universities. “We are committed to offering new opportunities to young talents” Lo Bosco emphasized, “creating jobs in railway professions and for technicians, the true engine of sustainable development.”
The Remind Forum was a valuable opportunity for sharing of best practices, confirming Italferr’s leading role in both the Italian and international landscape.
