The Italy-Turkmenistan Business Forum, a bilateral event organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the ICE Agency, was held in Rome, attended by 180 representatives of companies and institutions, 120 from Italian and 60 from Turkmenistan.
The Forum provided an important opportunity for dialogue between institutions and companies from the two countries, focusing on energy, infrastructure – in particular rail transport – and advanced industry, including the textile sector.
The agenda included the participation of high-level institutional representatives, including His Excellency Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, Deputy Minister of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan H.E. Toyly Komekov, and Italian Undersecretary of State Giorgio Silli.
Italferr was among the protagonists of the summit, with the Italferr CEO and General Manager Dario Lo Bosco addressing the opening session and emphasising the strategic value of the event as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and share new perspectives on sustainable and hi-tech infrastructure development, in line with the guidelines of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Italian Government.
"I am honoured to represent the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group here, in the presence of Your Excellency, the President of Turkmenistan, to renew a synergic relationship that began over a year and a half ago, when I was serving as President of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, with an institutional protocol signed in the presence of Minister Salvini and which I am pleased to further strengthen today in my role as CEO and General Manager of Italferr".
Lo Bosco then retraced the path of excellence of Italferr and the FS Group in exporting high-level know-how and technological innovation around the world, with the 4D and 5D BIM digitisation of construction sites to avoid delays and extra costs.
There was also a special focus on Italferr’s key international projects, such as the first cable-stayed railway bridge in India and the application of innovative mobility solutions that can optimise quality and efficiency from the initial technical and economic feasibility analysis of the works, thanks to the cutting-edge digital platforms, which have transformed Italferr into a hub of excellence.
Optimising safety, quality, sustainability and efficiency which, combined with our technological know-how and the “Diamante” diagnostic train of RFI, translates into a predictive diagnostic process to verify the efficiency of the network “on condition” and identify a possible fault before it occurs.
Italferr's presence at the Forum is part of a growing economic partnership between Italy and Turkmenistan, with Italy confirming its role as a strategic partner for the Central Asian country, especially with regard to national railway renovation and expansion projects.
Italferr's attendance of such a high-profile institutional event confirms the role of excellence played by the Company – and the wider FS Group – in global infrastructure development, together with the desire to strengthen international cooperation, in a joint vision of sustainable and innovative infrastructure development. Our specialist expertise in digital transformation and the engineering development of integrated and smart transport systems makes us a strategic partner for the growth of global infrastructure and active collaboration with Turkmenistan, providing our know-how to implement the best innovative and green projects in the country, through extraordinary development programmes.
