Confirming a forward-looking vision and consolidating its global leadership in the engineering sector, Italferr hosted the Australian delegation at its offices in Rome. The delegation included Rachel White – Trade and Investment Commissioner, Sheralyn Derrick – Austrade Business Manager, and Paul Garwood – Political, Economic and Public Diplomacy.
They were welcomed by Italferr’s Chief Executive Officer and General Manager, Dario Lo Bosco, together with Irene Gionfriddo, Director of International Business Development, Business Affairs and Sustainability, and Marco Carleo from the CEO Office. Also representing the International Division were Roberto Borghi, Vittoria Villa, and Michele Ezio Pedone.
The meeting was a strategic opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Italy and Australia in the field of sustainable mobility infrastructure and hi-tech management of public works sites.
During the discussion, participants explored prospects for developing collaborations and strategic partnerships linked to major projects featuring high technological and engineering innovation, with a particular focus on Italferr’s role in Australia. The company has been present there since 2017 with a branch in Brisbane, promoting Italian digital engineering through Italferr’s “smart” innovations.
Lo Bosco emphasised:
“We are proud to strengthen international cooperation with your country, where we are already present and where a tender is currently underway that we hope will further position Italferr as a driver of green and hi-tech projects on your territory. Our goal is to enhance the synergy between Italy and Australia, following the mandate given to us by FS CEO Ing. Donnarumma together with Minister Salvini and the Italian government.”
Italferr boasts extensive experience in Australia: from its first activities in 2011 as a subcontractor for the feasibility study of the Brisbane-Sydney-Melbourne high-speed line, to its 2016 consultancy for the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia, and its participation in the Inland Rail project between 2020 and 2023, overseeing concept design updates and preliminary design.
Looking ahead, Italferr continues to monitor opportunities arising from transport infrastructure enhancement projects in Australia, with particular attention to Design & Build initiatives for the Sydney-Newcastle high-speed link, the Melbourne Suburban Rail Loop, and developments of the Direct Sunshine Coast Line project, also known as The Wave.
This meeting confirms Italferr’s commitment to promoting a global vision through structured synergies and strategic partnerships, actively contributing to technological and infrastructural progress internationally, with an approach focused on sustainability, digitalisation, and innovation. The Australian delegation greatly appreciated the expertise of FS engineering company and acknowledged the FS Group’s role as a benchmark in sustainable mobility and integrated transport systems. They invited Italferr to visit Australia in the coming months to reciprocate the meeting and explore further opportunities to optimise synergies between the two countries.
