The blessing of the Italferr headquarters in Palermo in the name of St. John Bosco, and posting St. Christopher’s prayer in the lobby, brought together in the celebration of Christmas the colleagues of the digital and hi-tech engineering company who are constantly committed – with their colleagues from FS Group – to ensuring the safety and sustainability of mobility and transport infrastructure in Italy and in the sixteen foreign countries where the company currently operates. In his homily for the occasion, Don Antonino Santoro, a member of the Salesian clergy and Vicar of the Don Bosco Community in Palermo, praised Italferr's work as a driver of Italian engineering across the world, thanking the the “Railway Community” and all those who make our country proud, in terms of their hard work and public ethics.
The CEO and Managing Director of Italferr, Prof. Lo Bosco, with Director Gionfriddo, accompanied by Mr. Domino and Mr. Amico, engineers at Italferr, welcomed the attending authorities, including the Deputy Prefect Patrizia Adorno, Colonel Danilo Persano of the Guardia di Finanza and Colonel Matilde Corso of the Railway Police, as well as the regional directors of RFI Ms. Vitellaro and of Trenitalia Mr. Cammisa, thanked the attendees and highlighted the great success stories achieved by Italferr in 2025, receiving international recognition for its sustainability, innovation and digital technology.
Prof. Lo Bosco emphasised how “Designing sustainable infrastructure at Italferr means adopting a holistic vision that covers at the entire life cycle of a project, by assessing at the earliest design stages the environmental impact of possible future scenarios that may evolve, transform and continue to generate value for the local communities. Safety is a “key pillar” for the company and FS Group as a whole, and thanks to Italferr's advanced BIM and digital platforms, which are unique in the EU, it is now able to achieve the important objective of “zero deaths at work”, using tools such as virtual reality and smart systems on construction sites, for maximum risk prevention.
Before the final prayer, Prof. Lo Bosco concluded his address with the following words. “Spirituality, focused on the joy and professionalism that the women and men of Italferr contribute in their daily work for the benefit of the community, will help to liven the light of Christmas in our families, ward off evil and bring peace, development and prosperity, building with the younger generation and the experience of the “senior” employees, harmonious green progress through increasingly interconnected mobility networks, uniting the country with major transnational corridors, including the prospect of the Strait of Messina Bridge, as well as bringing Italian engineering excellence abroad”.
