Digital design and centre of excellence for “construction site management” and training

Italferr confirms its leading role in the digitisation and innovation of the Country System

On 13 May 2025, the presence of the CEO of Italferr, Prof. Dario Lo Bosco at two conferences of institutional significance – “The digitisation of public procurement contracts – Platforms, Trust and Innovation” at the Council of State and “Transport: the infrastructure of the future” organised by Astrid at the Rome Chamber of Commerce – confirmed the company's leadership role in the digitisation and innovation of the Italy's infrastructure.

Ferrovie dello Stato Group, in partnership with Italferr, are able to offer the country cutting-edge unique tools of enormous value, from the hi-tech engineering of projects and construction sites to process excellence tools like BIM 4D and 5D for public works, which can support construction projects throughout their entire “life cycle”, allowing every variable to be digitally controlled and the better management of critical issues.

Italferr's digital platforms with operational models make it possible to prevent changes during construction, extra costs and delays in completion: because digitally controlling these aspects means avoiding unpredictable events that can jeopardise results for the community, while at the same time guaranteeing accounting transparency for publicly owned companies and achieving the country's sustainable growth objectives.

On this occasion, Italferr's CEO reiterated that, as part of the FS Group, the company strives to optimise the monitoring of tangible and intangible construction sites, finally introducing ethical awareness in the digital management of contracts for complex construction sites, such as those within the framework of the NRRP, thanks to innovative hi-tech systems.

Thanks to its synergy with the MIT, and other institutions, we will also be able to provide local governments with top-value solutions, looking forward to measures that can enable local authorities and publicly owned companies to use advanced digital platforms like those developed by Italferr, consistently with the most advanced cybersecurity standards for data protection and privacy.

Convinced of the importance of building value through knowledge and training, we are strongly committed – with FS Group – to promoting scientific and technological research in the field of integrated mobility, not just through study centres and partnership agreements with universities, but by setting up a steering committee for sustainable, connected, digital and smart development in the field of transport, involving academics, top managers and leaders of important anti-corruption bodies and law enforcement agencies.

Italferr has already signed a higher education agreement with ANSFISA (the National Agency for the Safety of Railways, Roads and Motorways) for BIM 4D and 5D and we are ready to do the same with Anac (National Anti-Corruption Authority), to once again put the excellence of Italian engineering in Italy and around the world at the service of institutions and the community, strengthening interregional cooperation, alongside the MIT and the Government.
