A delegation of the Saudi railways visit Rome

May 6, 2025 – Italferr, the engineering firm of the Italian State Railways FS Group, led by CEO Prof. Dario Lo Bosco, hosted a delegation from SAR – Saudi Arabian Railway, headed by CEO Dr. Bashar Almalik, at its S. Martino della Battaglia offices in Rome.

Digitalization and its ensuing scenarios was the focus of the meeting, arousing great interest among the guests.

Cutting-edge digital systems were illustrated, including BIM Building Information Modeling, an example of excellence used by Italferr to improve process engineering, risk prevention on construction sites, and compliance with schedules and costs, both nationally and internationally. Mention was also made of the key role the company plays in providing specialist training in the major public works sector, at the service of Italy’s “Country System” and acting as a “Driver” of digital, smart, and hi-tech culture around the world.

Italferr boasts a long history of collaboration with the Saudi railways, mainly in the design and construction of major infrastructure projects, which has been further enhanced by the recent appointment as Project Management Consultant for the Saudi Landbridge Railway Network project, where Italferr is leader of a joint venture with Hill International and Sener.

Dr. Bashar Almalik, in thanking everyone for the ideas and reflections shared during the meeting, confirmed the mutual esteem and appreciation of the respective companies, hoping for further discussions to identify areas of agreement, including in the training and dissemination of digital culture in the infrastructure sector.

The meeting therefore strengthened the partnership between Italferr and Saudi Railways, demonstrating the high level of professionalism that both companies invest in the use of innovative technologies.
