Italferr a leader in sustainable engineering, with strategic vision, digital innovation, and acknowledgement of excellence

OICE’s sixtieth anniversary

The Trade Association, involved in Confindustria, that represents Italy’s engineering, architectural, and technical / financial consulting organisations, celebrates 60 years.

On the occasion of OICE’s sixtieth anniversary Italferr confirmed its role as a point of reference on the national and international infrastructural engineering scene. The event, held on 24 June at Rome’s Parco della Musica Auditorium, provided a time for very high level discussions between institutions, professionals and large clients, aimed at highlighting the global challenges the sector faces, from digital transformation to environmental sustainability.

Italferr was represented by their CEO, Prof. Eng. Dario Lo Bosco who, in his talk, dealt with the path of excellence the Company is currently pursuing, pointing out its commitment to integrated, sustainable, and technologically advanced planning. “Taking part in the OICE convention on the organisation’s sixtieth anniversary,” said Dr Lo Bosco, “has given me the chance to put the path Italferr is on to a high profile institutional setting. I would particularly like to thank Minister Matteo Salvini for his words of esteem and trust in both myself and the Company I have the honour of running”. The discussions with the Infrastructures and Transport Ministry had the shared goal of valorising interconnections between infrastructures, in order to facilitate decarbonisation and restoring a world-wide balance between road, rail and maritime modes of transport.  This real commitment comes through in projects that are able to counteract climate change and promote more sustainable mobility.

Italferr’s leadership in terms of sustainability was acknowledged by the Company receiving the prestigious OICE 2025 award in the “A2 ESG/Sustainability” capacity the day before. This award was received by Attorney Irene Gionfriddo, Foreign Commercial Development, Business Affairs, and Sustainability Director, confirming the Company’s ongoing commitment to integrating ESG principles into its planning and company processes.

Candidacy for the award highlighted Italferr’s numerous initiatives when it comes to Sustainable Design, research, innovation, and corporate sustainability. The Company stands out for adopting advanced environmental, social and economic methods, in line with the Gruppo FS’s strategies and international sustainable development agendas. This systematic approach comes through in infrastructural designs able to align the requirements of the territory with global environmental challenges.

In his talk, Dr Lo Bosco also referred to opening of the iconic Anji Khad Cable-Stayed Bridge in India, a symbol of fine Italian engineering in the world, reiterating the importance of collaboration with OICE for furthering cultural, digital, and technological know-how in the sector.  “Today, working with OICE”, he stated, “on increasing cultural, high-tech, digital and technological driver know-how in order to optimise processes throughout the structure’s life-cycle, certainly ensures quality, efficiency, and excellence that the world envies”.

Of the more relevant initiatives covered, the digital 4D and 5D BIM platform stands out. This was developed by Italferr in collaboration with scientific institutions, making digital time and cost control possible, while reducing changes while work is underway, and promoting transparent, effective ties with the companies.  This is a concrete example of how innovation can provide strategic leverage for the Country System’s competitiveness.

Italferr also signed a partnership agreement for top-level training with ANSFISA and is launching a similar path with ANAC, confirming their willingness to make an active contribution to raising the skills of Italy’s contracting stations. At the same time, projects are ongoing with the State Land Department for valorising public assets, using digital instruments and magnetotelluric surveys.

OICE’s sixtieth anniversary provided Italferr with not only a celebratory event, but an opportunity for sharing and synergy. The chance to reiterate its role in driving infrastructural innovation, serving the Country and future generations.
