The top management of Italferr, together with RFI, visited the construction site of the Ogliastrillo–Castelbuono section, a strategic objective of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
The visit began at the Ogliastrillo site warehouse, which houses the concrete segments that are moved and loaded for transport into the tunnel, where the TBM “Margherita” is currently in operation.
With the excavation of the odd-numbered tunnel, which has already passed beneath the city of Cefalù and is progressing toward the final stretch to Castelbuono, “Margherita” is advancing at an average speed of 11 meters per day at a depth of approximately 105 meters. The total length excavated to date is around 4,800 meters.
The presence of CEO Dario Lo Bosco was of great significance. Alongside the Works Management team, he was able to assess the challenges encountered during excavation and the management strategies adopted, as well as the expected challenges for future activities, in order to identify the best solutions for mitigating territorial interferences.
