A new, strategic agreement was sealed today in Campidoglio between Italferr, Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane’s Engineering Company, and Città Metropolitana di Roma Capitale, aimed at adopting advanced digital systems for planning, constructing and managing public works. The signing was attended by Italferr’s CEO, Dario Lo Bosco, the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and the respective central directors.
The agreement covers introducing and implementing innovative digital computerised processes, in order to optimise worksite times, costs and safety, both in Rome and in the Municipalities in the Province. With support from Italferr and Gruppo FS, Rome’s Metro Company will adopt cutting-edge methods and tools, including BIM (Building Information Modelling) models, Information Management systems, and integrated digital platforms, throughout the life cycle of the works. These tools will allow more effective collaboration between planners and companies, reduce times and costs, and prevent mistakes and variations while work is in progress.
The agreement also provides for personnel tutoring and training, where necessary, with the aim of centralising data management and allowing the Administration to produce more accessible, reliable and sustainable infrastructures, with the aid of Artificial Intelligence.
The salient points in the agreement include involvement in joint workshops, technical meetings and pilot studies on innovation, digitalisation and safety, as well as on the use of evolved (4D and 5D) digital platforms already implemented by Italferr.
This collaboration marks a decisive step towards modernisation and digitalisation of public infrastructures within the Rome Metropolitan area, benefiting citizens, companies and the territory.
