The Lectio Magistralis of CEO MD Lo Bosco in Reggio Calabria

The new era of sustainable mobility - innovation, ethics and research

A highly significant day for scientific and technological research, led by the Università Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria and Italferr - Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.

On Europe’s Researchers Day, Italferr’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Dario Lo Bosco, delivered a Lectio Magistralis on the New Era in Sustainable Mobility and the role of scientific and technological research” at the Università Mediterranea in Reggio Calabria, at the invitation of the Rector, Prof. Giuseppe Zimbalatti.

Before an audience of students, researchers and academics, Mr Lo Bosco illustrated Italferr’s and Gruppo FS’s vision and contribution to digital, hi-tech, smart worksite management, for large projects, for sustainable development of the Country and the EU.

This takes the form of constant commitment to digital works progress checking, in order to avoid extra costs and delays paid for by public finance, thanks to use of BIM 4D and 5D.

Italferr’s advanced technologies, along with RFI and FS, allow the best monitoring and dealing with any criticalities and conformity to the flow chart. The use of reticular planning techniques, with these hi-tech contributions, make it possible to finally avoid changes when work is in progress and maximise ethical worksite management, with extraordinary benefits for all, in accordance with MIT guidelines.

He shared how future mobility is an ethical, social commitment, besides being technical, where artificial intelligence and forecasting diagnostics redefine infrastructure safety and management, benefiting all and safeguarding the planet, while maximising investment efficacy and ensuring the pursuance of the common good.

In this regard, the Ponte sullo Stretto was indicated as a strategic key point in the great Palermo-Berlin-Helsinki-La Valletta corridor, creating the basis for sustainable development of Southern Europe.

Italferr’s CEO and MD then reiterated the importance of ethics and social commitment in future mobility, in which artificial intelligence and forecasting diagnostics redefine infrastructure safety and management, benefiting everyone and safeguarding the planet.

“Scientific research and technological innovation are the real driving force behind turning challenges into opportunities, maximising investment efficacy and ensuring the pursuance of the common good”, concluded Mr Lo Bosco, thanking the Università Mediterranea in Reggio Calabria for the warm welcome and constant commitment to high level education and research.
