Gruppo FS steps up internationalisation

Milan saw the official opening of the 12th edition of EXPO Ferroviaria, Italy’s main showcase dedicated to technologies and systems forrailway transport. The event, set to run until 2 October, has more than 290 exhibitors from numerous Countries, focussing strongly on sustainability, digitalisation and innovation.

The inaugural ceremony, attended by Infrastructures Minister, Matteo Salvini, launched a full programme of meetings and round tables, confirming railway’s strategic role in mobility in the future.

Salient events included the panel entitled “Gruppo FS beyond the borders: passenger transport, infrastructures and freight as a driving force for internationalisation” involving Top Management from Companies in the Group, along with some of the main foreign players in the railway sector. 

In this context, Italferr’s Chief Executive Officer, Dario Lo Bosco, reiterated the importance of the Company’s contribution as a key player in international expansion of Gruppo FS. In fact, Italferr boasts established presence on the five continents, with a very high profile portfolio of engineering projects that confirm its leadership worldwide. In addition, the Company is now recognised internationally as a centre of excellence for planning large infrastructural works, standing out for its advanced adoption of BIM 4D & 5D, digital worksite management, and commitment to hi-tech advanced education.

During the panel discussions, Dario Lo Bosco dealt with some of the projects that symbolise the Company’s worldwide involvement, including the Anji Khad Bridge in India, a cable-stayed bridge involving extraordinary engineering, built in a region of geopolitical significance as the Kashmir, and Rail Baltica, a new high-speed line that will link the Baltic Countries to the rest of Europe, making it one of the most strategic TEN-T corridor structures. 

These international projects testify to Italferr’s real commitment to take Italy’s engineering excellence abroad, making a decisive contribution to Gruppo FS’s positioning as a global player in sustainable mobility. A path to growth that enhances Italy’s role as a European railway hub, promoting innovation, competence and strategic vision on a worldwide scale.
