The conference 'INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Current Themes and Perspectives' was held at the headquarters of the Italian Navy in Rome.
Italferr, an engineering company of the FS Group's Infrastructure Hub, was among the speakers with technical presentations on Digital Information Management of the civil engineering works' life cycle and the regulatory impact of digital information management.
Organised under the patronage of the Association of Engineers of the Province of Rome, the event comes at the end of an intense coaching course that - with the aim of transferring skills for the management of design and verification activities through the use of the methods and tools of digital information management of buildings (BIM) to the Italian Ministry of Defence's technicians of GenioDife (Directorate of Works and State Property) coming from the Italian Army, Navy, Air Force and Carabinieri Corps - has seen Italferr professionals in the role of trainers over the past months.
The conference also saw the awarding of diplomas to all the participants of the training and coaching course.
"The great increase in investments in the infrastructure sector that we are witnessing must be accompanied by a deeper responsibility for the growth of professionalism" commented Italferr's CEO and General Manager Mr. Andrea Nardinocchi.
With her speech on Digital Information Management of the Life Cycle of Works, Ms. Daniela Aprea, Director of Technology, Innovation, Digital Spoke & Digital Rail Infrastructure Development, retraced the stages of the coaching process, clarifying how the objective of the initiative was from the outset to consolidate a common approach aimed at promoting digital transformation, innovation and the adoption of advanced practices in the entire life cycle of civil engineering works. The result was a transfer of know-how regarding digital design and process aspects, the application of digital construction information management methods and tools, the use of digital tools (software and platforms) and the drafting of contract documents in compliance with the Public Contracts Code.
In detail, the regulatory impact related to digital information management was at the heart of the speech by Ms. Cinzia Gatto, Head of Strategy Information Management and Regulation Analysis, who retraced its regulatory evolution, identifying areas of opportunity for contracting authorities, engineering companies, professionals and enterprises, then going on to illustrate the New Public Contracts Code under Legislative Decree No. 36/2023
In addition to consolidating important synergies and paving the way for future roundtables, the conference and the entire project allowed Italferr to renew its leadership on the subject of digital management of civil engineering works and at the same time promote a common culture of digitisation in the public works sector, thereby accelerating the adoption of advanced practices through the sharing of experiences, skills and standards.
