Guaranteed efficiency of the Integrated Management and Sustainability Measuring System for the infrastructural works designed

Italferr achieves HSQE System certification, along with a Climate Footprint Conformity Attestation

Significant acknowledgement of the capacity to guarantee the efficacy of the Integrated Management System and to measure the sustainability of infrastructural works designed has arrived for Italferr, the Engineering Company at Gruppo FS's Infrastructures Centre.

Conformity to the requirements of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards in terms of the Integrated Quality, Environment, and Occupational Health and Safety System at Italferr was certified by the results of the Third Party Audit carried out from 6 to 9 November 2023.

The Auditors praised the involvement of managerial and operating personnel, pointing out in the final report the high degree of skills and professionalism demonstrated during the interviews. This milestone is even more significant given the increase in Italferr personnel and premises covered by the certification. The positive outcome highlights the extensive effort put into continuous improvement and strengthens Italferr's engagement when pursing ever more challenging goals.

At the same time, with the Third Party Audit done on 5 December 2023, the Company also distinguished itself in the field of environmental sustainability, confirming the attestation of conformity of the "methodology for quantifying and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions generated by planning and constructing transportation infrastructures" to the requirements of the ISO 14064-1 standard.

The calculation methodology developed by Italferr, based on the “CO2 Tariff Rates”, represents an advanced approach to estimating the “Carbon Footprint” of works and infrastructures at the design stage.

The activity involved the "Sustainability" and "HSQE Systems" Operating Structures, highlighting the high degree of Italferr's competence and commitment to research and development of specifications that are cutting-edge.

This occasion not only provided feedback in the development opportunities indicated by the certification body, but, in terms of a shared perspective on continuous improvement, new opportunities were discussed and accepted, and will be the subject of future work group activities.

Italferr, in line with the strategic guidelines of Gruppo FS and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, sets itself the goal of promoting and valorising design solutions that have a lower impact on the environment, testifying to the ongoing commitment to responsible, sustainable development.
