The Carbon Footprint  in the projects

Italferr was confirmed to comply with the "methodology for quantifying and reporting the greenhouse gas emissions generated from the design and construction of transport infrastructure.

Certification of compliance confirmed for Italferr, the Engineering Company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Italiane Group

With this new certification, issued by the SGS Italia Certification Body following the audit that took place in December 2022, Italferr has received confirmation that the "methodology for the quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions generated by the design and construction activities of transport infrastructure" complies with the requirements of the reference standard (UNI EN ISO 14064-1:2019).

The methodology Italferr began developing in 2010 and based today on the "Carbon Tariff", allows to obtain an estimate of the carbon footprint of infrastructure works, understood as the sum of the emissions originated in the phases of production and transport to the construction site of construction materials and during the activities planned for the construction of the work, and is used to assess its impacts in terms of climate change.

The audit, which mainly involved the "Sustainability" and "Innovation & Technical PoC" structures supported and coordinated by the "HSQE Systems" structure, once again highlighted Italferr's high-level competence in terms of research and development of methodologies and protocols to enhance sustainable choices in the sphere of project design, a springboard for potential developments in line with the strategies of the FS Italiane Group as well as with the Sustainable Development Goals (so-called SDGs) set down by the United Nations.

The ability to measure the sustainability of the design and construction processes of infrastructure works demonstrated by Italferr, the engineering company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Italiane Group, is once again confirmed.
