As part of the broader project to eliminate all level crossings in the Municipality of Barletta, on 30 January 2024 the Via Andria underpass for vehicles and pedestrians was opened to traffic, giving back to the local community an important road accessing the city.
Present at the inauguration were the Mayor of Barletta, representatives of the municipal administration, representatives of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (Italian Railway Network) and the Works Supervision of Italferr, the engineering company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Italiane Group
The entire program required a total investment of over 32 million euros. To date, the underpasses of Via Madonna dello Sterpeto, Via Einaudi and of Via Milano have already been completed and opened to traffic.
It was a difficult challenge that saw the Italferr Project Group in the front line in resolving the multiple interfering underservices, causing as little inconvenience as possible to the city community and intervening in a reasonably short time, supporting the Contractor and at the same time continually paying attention to safety aspects, in a highly anthropized context in which it was necessary to handle the road front land and house owners with particular attention.
An impressive result for Italferr, now already projected towards the next delivery of the adjacent Via Veneto - Ferrotramviaria's railway line underpass scheduled by the summer of this year.
