Portogruaro (VE): two new railway underpasses inaugurated

Increased efficiency for rail transport while upgrading the urban road network

Two new underpasses on the Treviso-Portogruaro and Mestre-Trieste railway lines have been opened to vehicle traffic. The project is part of the program to remove five level crossings in the municipality of Portogruaro in the province of Venice, three of them along the Mestre-Trieste, Ronchi line and two along the Treviso-Portogruaro line.

The program to eliminate five level crossings in the municipality of Portogruaro has thus been completed, three of which along the Mestre-Trieste line, on Via Noiare (km 57+138), Via Ronchi (km 60+473) and Via Villastorta (km 61+090), and two along the Treviso-Portogruaro line, on Via Noiare (km 50+188) and Via Santa Elisabetta (km 49+565), the latter with the construction of an overpass.

Italferr, the engineering company of the FS Group's Infrastructure Hub, played the role of RFI/Contractor contract manager and Works Supervisor.

The inaugural event was attended, among others, by the President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, who commented: "With the completion of this project, the inconveniences caused by level crossings in the area, as in various parts of the Veneto region, will come to an end, resolving numerous critical issues in terms of road, safety and the environment, while guaranteeing greater efficiency of rail transport.”
