In its 40th year of activity, Italferr, the engineering company of the FS Group's Infrastructure Hub, is firmly confirmed as one of the big names in world engineering and holds first place in Italy, as also confirmed by the Guamari classification updated to February 2024.
This major achievement is made possible by the Company’s highly specialised technical skills oriented towards the design and construction of large, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, with a holistic approach to sustainability that includes BIM technologies and digital innovation to support the design, construction and subsequent maintenance engineering of the works.
In a historically male-dominated context such as railway engineering, concrete actions and policies paint a picture in which we are now dealing with a world that is no longer the sole prerogative of men.
In these terms, Italferr looks back with satisfaction at the path of inclusion that has strengthened its skills and visions over the years through the significant increase in the presence of women in all company positions, including purely technical roles such as those related to design, project and job order management and construction site roles.
As a direct consequence, the number of female professionals holding managerial and apical positions is also growing in Italferr, and the Board of Directors and the Steering Committee also boast a marked presence of women.
Today's results and standards of excellence are the result of a diversification of paths and skills, in which Italferr has made a central element of the FS Group's strategy its own: that of gender equality. It is no coincidence that, for the second year running, Ferrovie delle Stato Italiane has been awarded the Minerva Roma Prize for the great work done in terms of female empowerment and gender equality.
This result has been achieved thanks to the numerous initiatives implemented by the FS Group in recent years, such as the Women in Motion social innovation campaign aimed at educating the new generations, through which the Group enters schools to enhance women's careers in STEM fields, the Gender Equality Plan, and the constant growth in female staff within the FS Group in recent years.
