Italferr is part of the Italian delegation of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

On 27 and 28 August, Italferr, the engineering company of FS Group and a leader in the digitalisation and hi-tech management of construction sites and complex infrastructure projects, participated in the official visit to Riga, Latvia, of the Italian delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Edmondo Cirielli.

Following on from the previous meeting, last July, at Italferr's Rome headquarters, this was an important opportunity to further constructive discussions for strengthening cooperation between Italy and Latvia in the field of large-scale high-tech and innovation projects, with the aim of promoting a shared strategic vision of sustainable infrastructure development across Europe.

Italferr, also thanks to its projects under way in the Baltic countries, once again confirms its role as an international hub of excellence in the design and construction supervision of large infrastructure projects.

Irene Giofriddo, Director of Foreign Business Development, Business Affairs & Sustainability at Italferr, accompanied the Deputy Minister, Mr. Cirielli, to the bilateral meeting for consolidating relations between Italy and Latvia in the infrastructure, economic and cultural sectors.

The meeting, between the Deputy Minister and the Italian delegation with Latvian Minister of Economy Viktors Valainis, discussed joint economic and infrastructure development projects, with a focus on the role of FS Group and Italferr in the contracts for Consulting Engineer and Construction Supervision Services”, relative to the Rail Baltica project with EDZL, the national implementer of the project in Latvia.

The Italferr delegation accompanying the Deputy Minister, comprising Irene Gionfriddo, Director of Foreign Commercial Development, Business Affairs & Sustainability, Roberto Borghi, Head of the Foreign Market and No Captive Division, and Ezio Pedone, Area Manager for Europe and Italy, then met with Prof. Līga Gaile, Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, and Prof. Ivo Vaicis, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, at Riga Technical University.

At the meeting, Italferr confirmed its readiness to collaborate with Riga Technical University, also in view of the significant number of Latvian engineers who will be involved in Italferr projects in the Baltic States in the coming years.

The visit to Riga concluded with a meeting between the management of Italferr and the Italferr project team currently engaged in providing the “Consulting Engineer and Construction Supervision Services” for the Rail Baltica project main line in Latvia.
