As part of the railway doubling between Ogliastrillo and Castelbuono, activities continue to strengthen the Palermo-Catania-Messina connection. The TBM “Margherita” is advancing at an average speed of 11 meters per day, at a depth of approximately 105 meters.
With the excavation of 5,000 meters of the Cefalù Tunnel – odd track – the project has reached 75% completion.
In parallel with the TBM’s progress, the production and handling of precast ashlars are also proceeding at full pace, as key elements to ensure the tunnel’s stability and safety.
Once completed, the two single-track tubes – with a total length of approximately 13.5 km – will be lined with over 43,000 ashlars and will house the future underground Cefalù station.
A step forward toward a railway network that is increasingly modern, widespread, efficient, and integrated, thanks to the synergistic work of the client, technicians, and workforce under the supervision of Italferr’s Construction Management.
